Talisker


James Scott Skinner (5 de Agosto, 1843 - 17 de Marzo, 1927) fue un maestro de danzas, compositor y violinista escocés. En sus ratos libres despuntaba el vicio de la poesía, sobre todo como letra para acompañar su obra.

El poema humorístico "La Teste" (que utiliza dialecto del noreste escocés con acento de las West Highlands), eleva al Talisker a expensas de las destilerías cercanas a su nativo Elgin. El poema no está preparado para música sino que es meramente un intento de acompañar la melodía. Notesé en el último verso, la referencia al profesor John Stuart Blackie, el primer profesor de Celta de la Universidad de Edimburgo, quien escribió la introducción para la colección de Skinner.

'Ters nae a whisky in ta Nors,
She caresna what micht pe her source,
Frae Shon o' Groat to Firs o' Fors,

Her nainsel's poets praise her look,
Ta parsons too, an' sae she shoot,
For everypody ca's her goot,
Her Ossian-chantit Talisker.
An' Fingal, tecent, honest man,
Wi' a' her Caletonian clan,
Her pattles focht, an' fochtin' wan,
When weel supplied wi' Talisker.

Lang srive goot Roderick an' his still,
An' aye pe prewin' ta iser shill,
Fais, she'll be prood to pay her pill
For onysing like Talisker.
Here's to her nainsels -tat's ta toast-
Got save ta Queen, Pritannia's roast,
An' pig hogsheads o' Talisker.

Plaw up yer chanter, Tugal, poy,
M'Allister, or Tonal Roy,
An' fill ta whole o'Skye wi' shoy,
Sroo Soul revivin' Talisker.
An' whan Professor Planckie comes,
She'll spoke an' say, Hooch! Gaelic chums,
Foot, fat cares she for wines an' rums,
We'll a' get plys ower Talisker.

Esto está muy bueno, el único problema es que el inglés del poema es imposible de comprender. Por lo demás quedé muy satisfecho con el collage.
